1918 WW1 US Army Mess Kit wth Knife, Fork, Spoon, and Mani-Clip (NR)

Description

Offered is a 1918 WW1 vintage mess kit complete with utensils and a hard to find Mani-Clip. The mess kit is in nice condition with some oxidation showing on the handle. There is some design etched into the bottom in an attempt to decorate it (do not know the significance - could be some unit symbol). The knife has a cast alloy handle and with an embossed US on one side and L.F.& C 1917 on the other. The knife blade is oxidized, but not pitted, and should clean up nicely. The fork and spoon are stamped metal and are discolored due to oxidation (could not easily photo them). The spoon is stamped with a WB over W 1917 on the reverse. The fork is stamped with WB over W 1918 on the reverse. The Mani-Clip (combination file/nail clipper) is patented May 9, 1916. Please note the jagged condition of the blades (last photo).
