This Mac is running a fresh install of macOS Catalina! This means that I have wiped the Mac, installed macOS, and installed any possible updates before shipping your Mac, so that you don’t need to spend hours waiting for your Mac to do several large system updates.
While macOS Catalina isn’t officially supported by Apple on these iMacs, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible - and running very well! With Apple’s goals motivated by profits (selling new computers), Apple tends to take Macs that are perfectly capable of running newer versions of macOS, and limit them to older versions of macOS. This forces users to purchase a new Mac, when their current Mac would have been perfectly usable if it were just running a newer version of macOS, which the Mac’s hardware would have been plenty capable of supporting. In spite of Apple’s limitations, thanks to the community of Apple enthusiasts, it is possible for these Macs to run macOS Catalina reliably, safely, and securely.
