Alternator 3 Wire Connection Plug Fits both 10Si and 12Si alternators
The Delco Alternator plug is a wiring adapter that allows easy installation of alternator 3 wire connection. The plug is designed to snap into the connector at the back of GM style internal regulated alternator. This wire along with the hot wire to your ammeter or battery is all you need to connect a 3 wire alternator.
The special feature is a diode that prevents voltage from your alternator to enter your ignition system and allows shutting down of your engine when using the original on-off ignition switch in older vehicles.
As shown in picture, the red wire connects to the output side of alternator and the white wire connects to the + side of coil or coil side of ignition switch. Another wire is connected to the output of the alternator and connects to ammeter or battery terminal.
