    Description

    McClellan U.S. Cavalry Saddle Model 1904.
    First, I am not an expert on these old military saddles. I know that my family has owned this saddle for at least 50 years. When I was young I would use it in costume class at horse shows (always won, I give the credit to this saddle). The stitching all seems intact and strong. It definitely needs a good cleaning. The leather needs softening. It doesn’t feel extremely dry on the saddle body but the straps all need attention because they are brittle in spots. I only see one place where a strap has broken, and that’s one of the stirrup straps. It’s marked as a size 11 seat. Please ask if you would like any more pictures.
