pre-WWI US Army Regulation Leather Belt Holster for the .38 Caliber Double Action  Revolver, 2nd Type - Rock Island Arsenal - Original - Nice Condition
Up for auction is pre-WWI US Army Regulation Leather Belt Holster for the .38 Caliber Double Action Revovler, 2nd Type.  This is a vintage old military belt holster.  It is used, see photo's for
Condition.  The leather is still soft and supple.  There are surface cracks on the body and flap of the holster.  Some minor crazing.  All of the seams are intact and tight.  No repairs.  The leather has darkened with age, but still retains most of the black bridle leather color.   It has a a faint US oval logo on the front.  You can barely see the remnants of the three line marking on the flap: Rock Island Arsenal E.H.S.  There are unit markings stamped on the flap, 2 over 50.  Date not readable, but you can see there were markings there.  This is the Original non-modified version of this holster.   This is a nice example of the model holster.
This holster IS NOT a Left Hand design.  It was originally designed to be carried on the Right Side of the waist with the gun in the "Butt Forward" position.
