    Description

Turbo (Marmarostoma) spp. Hawaiian Fossil Marine Shells (44 mm).
Turbo spp. are not difficult to find as pieces and broken shells. Operculum, too, are fairly common. These two specimens are not perfect, but rare to find in decent condition. Almost never are they found with operculum in place. Please note that these shells, as well as any I offer, have not been altered or embellished in any way.
A portion of the spire is chipped and lip is broken on one specimen, which is common; lip on the other is entire, rare to find. One specimen has the operculum showing; the other is covered by matrix and not known if it has an operculum. Depending on which reference guide you refer to, there are from one to four similar species indigenous to the Hawaiian Island Archipelago. I do not know which ones these are for sure, but there may be two separate species based on the lip characteristic.
These two specimens were collected from the 'Ewa Plains, O'ahu, Hawaiian Islands.
You will receive the two shells in the photos.
NOTE: It is hoped that in the near future, I will be selling many other fossil/subfossil Hawaiian shells, mostly marine, but also a few land snails as well.
