US Pre WW1 M1904 Krag 30 40 Cavalry Leather Rifle Scabbard Sheath. Unit Marked.

Description

For sale here is a great looking US Pre WW1 M1904 Leather Krag Rifle Scabbard.  The scabbard is in great condition, but is lightly stiff as you would expect.  All of the hardware on the scabbard is brass.  On the remaining strap, the buckle and hook are steel.  Obviously, only one of the two straps is present.  There is ghosting from the missing strap, but it appears to have been gone for a good number of years.  The only issue with the scabbard is that the lower drain grommet is missing.  There is no maker's mark that i can find anywhere on the scabbard.  The only markings appear to be a unit marking of HQ52M with several other much smaller series of letters and numbers that aren't fully legible.  The scabbard is a nice deep and rick brown leather.  It could use some cleaning, but looks great just like it is.  It is approximately 33 1/2" long and is about 7" wide at the throat.  Other than the missing strap, this is a great example that will be hard to upgrade.  This is a neat piece to add to your collection.
